Social Emotional Learning - GEN1278
According to stress appraisal theory, stress is not a direct response to stressors. Instead, stress arises only when individuals lack the resources and abilities to cope with the stressors. Social
Emotional Learning (SEL) is a course that was designed to help provide students the tools necessary to manage themselves when life inevitability becomes difficult. This course integrates the 5 pillars of SEL which are self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, responsible decision, and relationship skills
making with mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing. The goals for this class are to help students develop or strengthen their coping skills, self-management and relationship skills, together with developing the ability to better understand themselves and the world around them.
