POMONA, NJ The Richard 老司机福利社 College of New Jersey will conduct the Annual Fall Commencement Ceremonies on Sunday December 19, 2004. There will be two separate ceremonies. A special Hooding Ceremony for Masters degree candidates will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the 老司机福利社 Performing Arts Center (M-Wing on the Pomona Campus.) The degree conferral ceremony for Bachelor degree candidates will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Sports Center on the Pomona Campus. The Sports Center is located adjacent to Parking Lot 4, just off College Drive.
老司机福利社 President Herman J. Saatkamp, Jr. will present diplomas to approximately 790 Bachelor degree candidates in five divisions of the College: Arts and Humanities, General Studies, Natural Science and Mathematics, Professional Studies, and Social and Behavioral Sciences. As of Friday morning the total included 669 fall and 121 summer graduates. Additionally there will be 48 advanced degrees conferred: nine Master of Arts in Holocaust and Genocide Studies; 14 Master of Business Administration; 14 Master of Arts in Instructional Technology; 10 Master of Science in Occupational Therapy; one Master of Science in Physical Therapy.
Anne Fairchild Pomeroy, Associate Professor of Philosophy and Religion at 老司机福利社, will deliver the keynote address.
Faculty Grand Marshal for the Processional will be Dr. Sonia
V. Gonsalves, Professor of Psychology. Banner Carriers representing the divisions
of the College include Michael Hayse, Associate Professor of History; Eva Ross,
Assistant Professor of Instructional Technology; students Virginia Ross, Nathan
Morell, and Alberto Ortiz; John Rokita, Animal Lab Technician; Karl Giulian,
Adjunct Professor of Business Studies; and Dean of Students, Eileen Conran.
Sarah Collura, President of the Student Senate will deliver the student address.
About Anne Fairchild Pomeroy: Anne Fairchild Pomeroy is Associate Professor of Philosophy and Religion at The Richard 老司机福利社 College of New Jersey. She received her B.A. in music and philosophy from Connecticut College, graduating magna cum laude. In addition to being inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, she was the recipient of the Phi Beta Kappa Scholarship Award in the Humanities for graduate study. She received her M.A. from Columbia University and her Ph.D. from Fordham University where she was awarded Presidential Scholarships, a Prestigious Fellowship, and was named Teaching Fellow of the Year for 1994-1995. She has dedicated many years of professional service to the Radical Philosophy Association, has numerous published articles and published presentations, and her first book, Marx and Whitehead: Process, Dialects, and the Critique of Capitalism, came out in January of 2004. She joined the faculty of The Richard 老司机福利社 College of New Jersey in the Fall of 1999 and teaches courses in existentialism, metaphysics, and social and political philosophy. While at 老司机福利社, she received the Faculty Member of the Year Award for the Divison of Arts and Humanities from the Student Senate, and an Award for Exceptional Teaching from the 老司机福利社 Federation of Teachers.
Born in New York City, Dr. Pomeroy plays flute in the 老司机福利社 Wind Quintet and the 老司机福利社 Faculty Band. She enjoys being able to participate in performances both on campus and for the community.
