New Member Education Plans

Purpose

The purpose of this process is to assist fraternities and sororities at 老司机福利社 with their Membership Recruitment and New Member Education/Intake.  This document is meant to educate fraternity and sorority members, their advisors, and aspiring members about the Membership Recruitment and New Member Education/Intake Process expectations and procedures as outlined by 老司机福利社鈥檚 Office of Student Development. 老司机福利社 believes that partnership between fraternity and sorority members, alumni advisors, and inter/national headquarters ensures a successful and positive experience for all involved in the new member education/intake process.  It is our philosophy that Membership Recruitment and New Member Education/Intake activities support the mission and core values of 老司机福利社, Student Development, and each inter/ national organization.

Expectations of Organizations Conducting Recruitment and New Member Education/Intake (NMEI)

  1. In order to conduct any NMEI activities, the organization must complete and submit the Request for Intake form, including all requested attachments, information and signatures, meeting all stated deadlines.
  2. The organization must not start NMEI until approved or acknowledged by Student Development staff, alumni advisors and inter/national headquarters staff.
  3. NMEI must meet all requirements outlined in the Recognition Policy.
  4. NMEI must not extend longer than six-weeks and must be completed by the last day of classes.
  5. NMEI must not occur outside of an academic semester and must not extend beyond one semester.
  6. NMEI must not take place earlier than 7:00am and must conclude no later than 12:00am.
  7. NMEI must not interfere with academic or University sanctioned commitments.

New Member Plans Must Include:

  1. Names and contact information for New Member Educator/Intake Coordinator and Recruitment/Chapter Advisor
  2. Mission/goals of your new member/intake program
  3. New Member/Intake Participant expectations (attendance, mandatory programs, study hours, grades, etc.)
  4. Organization policy for underage drinking and other illegal activities as they pertain to new members/intake participants
  5. Organziation hazing policy
  6. Big/Little program if applicable
  7. Detailed outline of meetings and events related to new member education/intake (dates, times, locations required)
