The Garden State Guarantee
The Garden State Guarantee (GSG) is a last-dollar program created to assist New Jersey residents in affording the cost of their education.
The three tiers of the GSG for students include a tuition and fee free guarantee or a sliding scale Net Price of no more than $7,500 or $10,000 for Tuition and Fees for qualifying students.

Federal Pell Grant Program:
A , unlike a loan, is free money from the Federal Government and does not have to be repaid. Students apply by filing a and must reapply each year. File at .
Eligibility and award amounts are determined based on your . Pell Grants are awarded only to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor's or professional degree.
During the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters, the Pell Grant is prorated based on the number of credits for which a student is enrolled.
In the Summer, eligible students must be enrolled at least half-time to receive Pell.
There is a lifetime limit to the number of semesters a student can receive a Pell grant.

New Jersey State Tuition Aid Grant (TAG) Program:
New Jersey residents who are or intend to be full time undergraduates at an approved New Jersey college, university or post-secondary institution may be eligible for the .
Students apply by filing a and must reapply each year. File at .
Eligibility and award amounts are determined based on your NJEI. The State of New Jersey determines your NJEI and eligibility using the information reported on the FAFSA.
Applicants must demonstrate need for college student aid and must have been legal residents of New Jersey for at least 12 consecutive months before receiving the grant.
Students who have received a baccalaureate degree or are enrolled solely in graduate study or graduate level courses are not eligible.

Eligible students who are enrolled in at least 6 credits could be eligible to receive a summer TAG payment. The amount is prorated for half-time, 3/4 time and full-time.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG):
The is limited funding provided by the federal government for students with the most demonstrated need.

老司机福利社 Grant in Aid (SGIA):
The 老司机福利社 Grant in Aid (SGIA) is an institutional need-based grant program for high achieving students who demonstrated need after filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students apply by filing a FAFSA. File at .
Eligibility and award amounts are determined based on merit and demonstrated need.
Students offered SGIA must complete a FAFSA and maintain full time enrollment to be eligible. The grant is a 2-year consecutive offer beginning the recipient's first semester at 老司机福利社 and lasting 4 semesters (excluding summer) if eligibility requirements are maintained.
Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan Program:
Students may be eligible for Federal Direct Subsidized and/or Unsubsidized Loans by completing the . File at .
A student may be eligible if they are enrolled in a degree seeking program and at least 6 credits per semester (half-time) at 老司机福利社. Eligible students borrow directly from the U.S. Department of Education.

A is awarded on the basis of financial need. The federal government pays interest for the loan ("subsidizes" the loan) until you graduate or stop attending half-time and during authorized periods of deferment.
An is not awarded on the basis of need. You'll be charged interest from the time the loan is disbursed until it is paid in full.
You will begin repayment on the principle 6 months after you stop attending half time or graduate. When added to other financial aid resources, the loans amount may not exceed the cost of attendance at the time it is disbursed to the school.

Federal Direct PLUS Loans for Parent Borrowers:
Parents of dependent undergraduate students are eligible to borrow under the Direct PLUS Loan program for parent borrowers up to the cost of their child's attendance minus other financial assistance.
Parents can apply by logging into with their FSA ID and Password and completing the application. Students whose parents apply for these loans are required to complete the . File at .
Eligibility is based on credit. An endorser may be required for some loans to be approved.
Students whose parents are denied for the Parent PLUS Loan may be eligible for an additional unsubsidized loan for the academic year.

Federal Work Study (FWS) Program:
The Federal Work Study (FWS) program is a need-based, federally funded work program administered by the Office of Financial Aid. Students apply by filing a . File at .
Eligibility is based on demonstrated need. To be considered, students should file their FAFSA as early as possible. Award amounts are set based on the appropriation from the U.S. Department of Education.
The program allows students to work part-time on or off campus to help offset their educational expenses. The funds will not be directly credited to your account, instead you will be paid biweekly. If you are offered FWS, it will be included in your financial aid offer. You will need to accept the offer and find employment.

New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund Grant (EOF) Program:
The Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program gives motivated New Jersey students who come from educationally and financially disadvantaged backgrounds an opportunity to attend college. EOF is a special admissions program for students meeting certain financial and academic requirements.
All applicants must be students from a background of historical poverty, who demonstrate financial need. They must be New Jersey residents for 12 consecutive months prior to applying and must also be enrolled full time and matriculated at a participating New Jersey college or university. EOF is only available to first-time freshman students. EOF students who transfer from a participating NJ college or university may be eligible to apply for admission into the 老司机福利社 University EOF program.
The State of New Jersey determines eligibility using the student's NJEI, which is determined based off of information reported on the FAFSA as well as Income and Asset chart displayed .
To apply, students must file a or (NJ Dreamers only), provide the University with Tax Return Transcripts for the student and parents for the tax filing year the FAFSA/NJ Alternative Application is asking for as well as one year prior. New Jersey STARS II Program:
The NJ STARS II Program is a continuation of the NJ STARS I Program that enables successful NJ STARS I students to earn a bachelor鈥檚 degree at a four-year public institution within the State of New Jersey.
To qualify for participation in the NJ STARS II Program, students must:
- Have been an NJ STARS I recipient
- Graduated from a New Jersey County College with an Associate's degree and have maintained the required cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 or higher
- Be enrolled full-time at a NJ four-year public institution
- Have applied for all forms of State and Federal need-based grants and scholarships
within established deadlines
- Students can apply for these grants by filing the and answering the additional questions for the State on .
To have the NJ STARS II scholarship applied to your account, you must:
- Provide a copy of your Official County College transcript to the Office of Financial Aid at 老司机福利社 that indicates that you have earned your Associate's degree with a GPA of 3.25 or higher
To maintain your NJ STARS II eligibility at 老司机福利社 you must:
- Earn at least a 3.25 GPA after two consecutive semesters of enrollment in the program
NJ STARS II will be applied for up to four semesters of continuous enrollment (excluding summer).
*Award amounts are determined by the State of NJ. Per State regulations, if you qualify for other federal and state grant programs and the total of these awards exceeds the cost of your tuition, your NJ STARS II award cannot be used towards the rest of your bill. However, if you qualify, you will have continued eligibility for NJ STARS II in future semesters.

New Jersey Governor's Urban Scholarship Awards:
Administered through the State of New Jersey, the NJ Governor's Urban Scholarship is a merit award available to students who rank in the top 5.0 percent of their high school class and attain a grade point average of at least 3.0 at the end of the junior year in high school.
To qualify, students must file a FAFSA or the NJ Alternative Application (NJ Dreamers only). U.S. Citizens and Eligible Non-Citizens can file the FAFSA at . NJ Dreamers can file the NJ Alternative Application at .
Students must also be enrolled full-time and reside in one of the designated communities to qualify. .
Eligible students will have a New Jersey Eligibility Index (NJEI) below 10500, as determined by the results of their financial aid application.
Award amounts are determined by the State of NJ.

New Jersey Alternative Financial Aid Application for NJ Dreamers:
The New Jersey Alternative Financial Aid Application allows NJ Dreamers enrolled in eligible New Jersey colleges and universities to apply for state financial aid.
Students should apply if they are not United States citizens or eligible noncitizens and meet all of the following criteria:
- Attended a New Jersey high school for at least three (3) years
- Graduated from a New Jersey high school or received the equivalent of a high school diploma in New Jersey
- Are able to file an affidavit stating that you have filed an application to legalize your immigration status or will file an application as soon as you are eligible to do so
Eligibility and award amounts are determined based on your NJEI. The State of New Jersey determines your NJEI and eligibility using the information reported on your Alternative Application. Students must file the Application each year to reapply.
Applicants must demonstrate need for college student aid and must have been legal residents of New Jersey for at least 12 consecutive months before receiving the grant.

First Year Student/Transfer Scholarships:
Beginning with the Spring 2021 semester, prospective first year students are not required to submit SAT or ACT scores as part of the scholarship review process. We will be utilizing both academic and extracurricular achievement to determine scholarship eligibility.
For scholarship consideration, students must submit their official high school transcripts and complete the activity section within the Common Application or submit the 老司机福利社 University for scholarship consideration. You may enter up to ten (10) activities to be considered for scholarship consideration. Activities include:
- Work (part-time or summer jobs)
- Volunteerism or community engagement
- Family responsibilities
- School/community clubs/organizations
- Arts/music/sports
- Other experiences that have been meaningful to you
Accepted transfer students are considered for scholarships based on previous college performance. To qualify, students must meet the below criteria:
- File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or NJ Alternative Application (NJ Dreamers only) each year
- Must have 24 or more earned, transferable, non-basic skills credits from a regionally accredited undergraduate institution
- Cumulative GPA minimum: 3.4
- Transcripts from all previously attended institutions will be used to calculate cumulative GPA
- New transfer applicants only; students applying for readmission or first-year applicants do not qualify

- Student must be a permanent resident of a U.S. state outside of New Jersey, or Puerto Rico, and not eligible for in-state tuition.
- Students must maintain continuous full-time enrollment and a 3.0 cumulative 老司机福利社 University GPA to renew the award.
- Student must reside on campus to maintain this scholarship.

Full-time enrollment only (12 or more credits per semester). Continuous enrollment required to maintain scholarship; scholarship will be cancelled upon withdrawal from 老司机福利社. Must maintain cumulative 老司机福利社 GPA of 3.0. Scholarship remains in effect for up to eight (8) consecutive semesters (fall & spring) for first-year (freshman) students and up to six (6) consecutive semesters for transfer students. Students who have already earned a bachelor's degree are ineligible for transfer scholarships. Institutional scholarships are designated for educational expenses and cannot be refunded to students. If institutional aid exceeds direct costs, any excess amount will not be issued to you as a refund. Instead, these funds will be adjusted accordingly to ensure compliance with financial aid policies and regulations.

老司机福利社 Foundation Scholarships:
The 老司机福利社 Foundation maintains a robust merit-based scholarship program with approximately 200 scholarships. Scholarships are available for upperclassmen students and are based on academic achievement. Students apply by:
- Completing the online application(s) (login with university-issued username/password) available at stockton.edu/foundationscholarships.
- Submit a 250 to 500 word essay (based on application prompt); view rubric
- Provide one letter of recommendation from a 老司机福利社 professor or dean
Applicants must meet these requirements to qualify:
Undergraduate Students:
- Have already completed one semester at 老司机福利社
- Have a 老司机福利社 GPA, many scholarships require a 3.0 GPA
- Be in good academic standing
- Enroll full-time (12 credits or more)
- Part-time students eligible for select scholarships only
- Registered at 老司机福利社 for spring of the application term and return for the following academic year
Graduate Students:
- Have already completed one semester at 老司机福利社
- Earn/maintain 3.0 GPA (at 老司机福利社)
- Be in good academic standing
- Enrolled part-time (3 credits or more)
- Registered at 老司机福利社 for spring of the application term and return for the following academic year
Award amounts are determined by donors and set each year by the Foundation Board as
funds are available.
Note on Ineligibility:
- First-semester students (first-year or transfer) without a 老司机福利社 GPA are not considered for Foundation Scholarships.
- Seniors graduating spring or summer term are ineligible to apply unless immediately matriculating into a 老司机福利社 graduate program for the following academic year.
- Foundation Scholarships are awarded to 老司机福利社 students only and are not transferable to outside colleges/universities.

Military & Veteran Education Benefits:
Are you a veteran or currently in the Reserves or the Guard? You may be eligible for Post 9/11, Chapter 1606 or Chapter 30 educational benefits.
Veterans with a 10% or more service connected disability, may be eligible for the VA Readiness & Employment Program.
Children and spouses of veterans who are 100% disabled or deceased as a result of being in the military service may also be eligible for educational assistance.
Veterans benefits may be available to graduate students if the student is a veteran or currently in the Reserves or National Guard.

External Scholarship Resources:
Students are able to apply to external organizations for scholarship opportunities. Depending on the specific organization, the funds can either go to the student or to the University. Checks for all scholarships can be made out to 老司机福利社.
The Office of Financial Aid at 老司机福利社 provides students with a Scholarship Resource Center where some scholarships are posted and they can use the information on the page to search for additional scholarships. The Scholarship Resource Center can be accessed here.

External Loan Resources:
Private student loans are non-federal government loans offered by private lending institutions as an additional source of funds for higher education. Students can apply for Private Loans to help fund their education. The Office of Financial Aid does not recommend any one lender. View a historic list of lenders used by 老司机福利社 students within the past three years here.
Please Note: You are free to choose any lender, including those not presented. If you choose a lender that is not presented, please contact the Office of Financial Aid. Application processing will not be delayed unnecessarily if you choose a lender not presented.

Aid Opportunities for Undocumented Students:
Undocumented students, including those classified as DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) students are not eligible for any type of federal student aid; however, an eligible undocumented student could be considered for state and/or institutional and private financial aid/scholarship programs.
Emergency Sources for Current Students:
Student Relief Fund:
The Student Relief Fund is designed as a one-time financial assistance program to assist students experiencing an unexpected or unavoidable financial crisis which stands to impede their educational progress.
Examples of an unexpected or unavoidable financial crisis may include:
- Emergencies (car repairs/accident, home fire, flood, family illness/death, etc.)
- Outstanding educational balances or educational-related expenses
The following criteria must be met to in order to receive assistance from the Student Relief Fund:
- Enrolled in the current semester at time of application with at least one full semester completed at 老司机福利社
- Earned a minimum of 64 credits toward an undergraduate degree
- Be in good academic standing
- Minimal to no financial aid options
Note: Exceptions to these criteria can be made in response to an emergency situation or catastrophic event. In such cases, assistance provided must cover a cost related directly to the emergency. Examples might include, but are not limited to: Educational supplies or clothing lost in a fire, temporary campus housing for students experiencing housing insecurity, car repair for commuter students, travel costs for a funeral.
Books/course supplies: Students not meeting the established criteria listed above may be eligible to receive a one time award up to $200 for book/course supplies if no immediate financial options are available.

Emergency Loan Program:
This program offers students a no fee, no interest loan with a 45 day grace period for repayment.
Loans are limited to $500.
If you anticipate a refund from Financial Aid for the semester in which you apply for the loan, the loan amount will be repaid from the proceeds. If no refund is anticipated, you will be responsible to pay the balance to the Bursar's office within 45 days of receipt of the emergency loan.
*** Please note, if the balance is not paid in full within 45 days, your account will be subject to a late fee and/or a HOLD will be placed on your account, making you ineligible for registration and receipt of other official University documents.
Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled
- Must not have a balance with the University
- Must not have an outstanding emergency loan
Enrollment Key:
Eligibility for financial aid is dependent upon several factors, including enrollment. See below for an enrollment guide detailing the number of credits in which a student must be confirmed attending to be considered full-time, 3/4 time and half-time.
