Included in our mission is to promote civic engagement in Southern New Jersey, connecting our students and community to public service and offering opportunities for experiences and skill-building.

 

老司机福利社 Students Participating in the NATO x WMGIC Challenge on 11/1/2024

The Hughes Public Policy Center is sponsoring two teams of five (5) 老司机福利社 students to participate in the 2024 NATO x on November 1st. From their website, "Over several hours, hundreds of undergraduate students will compete to propose the best way for NATO to counter disinformation from a policy perspective in one of the following topic areas: Artificial Intelligence, Public Health, Russia-Ukraine War, Gender-Based Violence, Terrorism, Climate Change (Climate Security), Climate Change (Clean Energy), and Human Rights. Each plan of action will consider NATO鈥檚 existing capacity and what actions NATO should implement within the next 12 months."

Legislator-in-Residence

The Legislator-in-Residence program brings New Jersey lawmakers to 老司机福利社, allowing them to engage with the students and faculty.

American Democracy Project

Established in 2003 as a nonpartisan initiative of AASCU in partnership with The New York Times, the American Democracy Project (ADP) is a network of nearly 300 state colleges and universities collaborating to deepen the impact public higher education institutions have on preparing students who:   

  • Are empowered to be engaged and to lead in the future of our democracy
  • Directly contribute to a more competitive workforce and a stronger local and national economy
  • Have knowledge of the structures and processes of democracy and reflect on those processes
  • Learn to develop civic skills of critical thinking, deliberation, thoughtful listening and dialogue, particularly with opposing views and perspectives
  • Engage with their community
